About

The Carriage Barn was founded in 1976 by Sam Mundrake who at the time was a long haired hippy. What began as a small scale, one room antique showroom rapidly expanded and evolved. The need to refinish and repair the antiques as they were bought and sold brought about the establishment of our custom woodwork and finishing shop. Originally used as an asset to the antique showroom, the workshop quickly became the area’s leading custom cabinetry fabricator and refinishing and repair workshop, employing a team of skilled artisans and craftsmen. As the demand for custom furniture, built-ins and bars increased we expanded our team to include field carpenters and construction professionals.

By the turn of the 21st century; what was once a small showroom was now a two story antique gallery with a team of craftsmen, refinishing experts, artisans and carpenters behind it. As a pilot, Sam would fly across the country purchasing and selling antiques, becoming the area’s leading antiques expert and appraiser. His refined taste in antiques carried over in his design of custom furniture - he was and is still able to use this knowledge to create one of kind entertainment centers and custom bars while being able to educate clients on proportion, wood species and finishes.

Soon our work in the field lent itself the establishment of Carriage Barn Custom Builders in 2009 as a fully insured and licensed contractor. With it came the hiring of an in-house interior designer that worked closely with Sam to put the client’s vision on paper and as technology involved into 2-D and 3-D computer design models.

As Sam lost some hair and began to wind down into retirement, he brought on Tiegan Williams, a graduate of Philadelphia University design program to take over as lead designer and Scott Clark, a expert carpenter with 18 years experience as project manager. Tiegan brought with her ten years experience in the architecture and interior design field working with firms in Philadelphia and Scranton. She now runs the business with Scott utilizing that experience and today’s leading design software to assist clients from initial consultation to project competition with assistance from our office mangers, skilled craftsmen and artisans and construction professionals.
